Valentine’s Day

February 12, 2006

Neither the detour nor the road-block set-up for The Hong Kong Marathon was able to deter our brothers, sisters and friends’ anticipation for the out of the ordinary teaching of God on Valentines’ Day Special Sunday Service. The service commenced with a 15-minute prayer meeting followed by a compelling praise and worship, and a renewed life-changing testimony from Tony and Mona Chan. Last but not least was the apposite sermon from Pastor Gavin on “God’s Design for Love”.

What’s your expectation on Valentine’s Day? Flowers, chocolates, diamond rings, dinner at a romantic restaurant with music and champagne ….. Which of these represent true and pure love – that bunch of 99 roses, one caret diamond ring or the expensive dinner at the Peak? What about after the present and the dinner, on such a romantic occasion, lovers easily fall into the temptation of sex, as most of them generally is mistaken that love associates with sex. Therefore, the explicitly chosen sermon tells us about the inter-relationship between love and sex in God’s Word and His boundary by “Avoid sexual immorality; Learn to control our own bodies and Not to take advantage of others” Let us allow God’s Word, God’s will and God’s authority to be our moral compass in our lives and live abundantly in spiritual purity and integrity!

Praise God there we have 5 new converts this week. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17) Let’s continue to pray for and nurture the growth of these new creations to be David’s Mighty Men in the Lord.
