Christmas Celebration

December 26, 2004

Christmas has just past, it’s time to give thanks to the Lord for His blessings upon us in the year 2004. More than 260 brothers, sisters and friends gathered together at the Sheraton Hotel on December 26 for the Year-End Celebration Sunday Service. The theme of this event is “The Light”, which is best illustrated by the gift we received at the hall entrance, a miniature torch.

The Sunday Service started with the presentation of certificates to our brothers and sisters, family members and friends who joined the “Knitting Your Loving Heart” campaign by knitting scarves for the elderly. We collected more than 300 hand-made scarves which were distributed to the elderly in old aged homes and those who live alone through the connection of St. James’ Settlement in mid-December as Christmas gifts. Thanks for all the support in sharing the love of Christ to our community.

We had three pre-recorded testimonies given by the Lai’s family (G1), Emma (G5) and Tony Tang (G7). It is very touching to see how God has changed their lives and that of their family members. Emma gave thanks to God for the salvation upon her father and sister. For the Lai’s family, after Candy received Christ in 2001, her husband and daughter also accepted Jesus in 2004. The Bible says, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved – you and your household.” (Acts 16:31)

In the sermon, Pastor Gavin quoted a saying about “Light”. “When there is LIGHT in our hearts, there is beauty in us. When there is beauty in us, there is harmony in our families. When there is harmony in our families, there is order in our nation. When there is order in the nations, there is PEACE in the world.” Everything starts with the light in people’s hearts, but where can we find the light we need? It’s from Jesus Christ. He came to the world to give us light, that’s the reason why He was born two thousand years ago. Have you received that Light already? Thank God there were seven of our friends who received the Light through accepting Jesus as their Lord and Saviour on that day!
