Friend’s Day

November 26, 2006

It is God who makes true friends possible. On this special Sunday, Pastor Gavin preached 1 Samuel 20: 12-17 with the sermon entitled “Best Friends”. He shared that we could learn from David, how he confided his problems with Jonathan and their friendship was genuine and open. Pastor Gavin also shared that we could find this similar kind of friendship in church. True friendship is God-centered.   Immediately after the Sunday Service, the buses took more than 400 of us to the picnic at Pak Tam Chung.

Praise God for the weather ! We all enjoy the sharing of foods, each Sub-District  was to prepare food to be cross-exchanged with the other Sub-Districts. One of the Sub-District even indulged themselves with BBQ. Meanwhile, some brothers, sisters and friends couldn’t wait to play games at the open area like kicking the shuttlecocks, cards, etc. Some kids even cuddled with cute dogs. Another surprise was 6 Hope Singapore brothers and sisters joined our fellowship. Lots of pictures were taken.  Thank God for creating such atmosphere for wonderful fellowship and enjoyment of His creation.

After sharing the food, Sister Nicole and Sister Hui-leng led us with some Games across the Sub-Districts at about 4pm. The games included the collecter: each Sub-District to collect  100 notebooks,  100 ten-cent coins, calendar cards and tissue packets and the “Jesus” star board . Congratulations to Sub-District 3 as they turned out to be the overall winner.

As 5pm approaches, the buses required our departure back home. We thank God for such a wonderful day we could spend with all the friends that we made. May we continual to exercise what we learnt in the Sermon and  to build close relationship with one another, caring and praying for one another, just as we obey God’s second greatest commandment “Love your neighbour as yourself”.   Thank God for all of our friends.
