Water Baptism II

July 12, 2009

Praise the Lord! Over 100 brothers and sisters gathered at Repulse Bay to witness 10 brothers and sisters took the step of faith to publicly acknowledge God before men. We also witnessed the power of prayer of how God cleared the sky from Typhoon no. 3 of the day before.

The Chairman, Brother Jack (the translator was Sister Susan), commenced with a prayer and stated the meaning of baptism with the verse from 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! He then invited the Praise and Worship team to lead the congregation to praise the Lord”.

Pastor Gavin reconfirmed that according to the Bible every Christian had to be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit as a dedication to follow Christ. It symbolized the burial of our old self and the resurrection in the Lord to live a new life in Him. Then he asked those being baptized to share simple testimonies since they accepted the Lord. The testimonies covered areas of peace, joy, better changes in character and relationship, and blessings in their jobs. After the sharing, Pastor led the congregation to pray for them.

Before the Water Baptism He asked the candidates two questions. One is whether they had accepted Christ as their personal savior and the other whether they were willing to stand firm in their decision to follow Christ no matter what the circumstance would be. Brothers and sisters affirmed their stand and Pastor Gavin distributed the certificates to them. They then proceeded and be baptized.

Thank God for these new lives.May God bless them and equip all of us to do greater work for Him. Amen.
