22nd Church Anniversary Cup

July 6, 2014

Praise The Lord! It came the time of the year again – the 22nd Church Anniversary Cup!

This year the event was split into 2 days, which enabled the players to have more chances to demonstrate their skills. Three teams of the boys played against each other twice to determine which two teams could enter the final.

For the girls, the match was adjusted into a “3 on 3” basis to cater for their needs. 6 teams in total joined the match.

As always, Pastor Gavin started the competition with a prayer and reminder that friendship and love for each other come before the match results.

The matches were very exciting and eye-catching.  Players used their best efforts to put their own teams into the winning spot and to secure a place in the final. The teams for SD3 and SD2 (boys) and SD2 and SD3A (girls) got into the finals in the end

In between breaks and matches, the audience’ eyes were not resting but enjoying other exciting moments. On the first day, a new elementwas introduced – the 3-pointer competition. Individual players were invited to join the match to show their skills in 3-point shootings.  It was also a great chance for brothers and sisters who may not be hardcore players to participate.  In the end, brother Kenny Mok of SD5 and sister Roslyn  of SD1 won the award!

On the second day, the cheering teams gave their cheering performance.  SD1 gave an amazing dancing performance, SD2 and SD5 also gave cheering demonstrations, and SD3 gave an energetic dance performance (with break dance!). SD3 won the award.

The finals were also very exciting.  For girls, SD2 and SD3A were tight. Players did their best for their teams and in the end SD2 won the award.

The boys final was the climax of the event.  It was SD2 vs SD3. Players of both sides did their best to create chances to attack, and to block the attacks of the opposite teams.  For once or twice, the players showed amazing skills to save the ball from being thrown out of the field, which won the applause of the audience.  In the end, SD3 secured the champion once again after 4 years.
