Christmas Celebration 2023
Dec 24, 2023
Merry Christmas !
The theme of this year’s Christmas Celebration is “He reigns forever”. Before the service began, Pastor Gavin shared on Luke 1:32-33. Jesus is the son of God who reigns forever. Our life and the world need the Lord to reign. Understanding the Lord reigns will enable us to stand strong and move on in both good and bad times of our life.
The service started with a special opening about two visitors, Joe and Panda, visiting the Bible Experience Museum. The manager of the museum, Andy, led the two guests to go back to the time of the Old Testament through a time machine. The three of them would experience events in the past later on.
Then brother Jack welcomed everyone and brothers and sisters greeted one another joyfully. After that, sister Rosa and her team led us to sing some Christmas songs and worship our Lord together.
Sisters Ivy and Pik from Joyful Group shared about how God provided with their needs in terms of housing arrangements in a video testimony. Sister Pik had been living with Ivy and her family since she came back to Hong Kong from the US. As Ivy’s son, Nam, was going to get married in December, they decided to move out from the current flat. Praise God that both Ivy and Pik received government’s public housing after waiting for 4 years and 2 years respectively, which was way shorter than the normal waiting time. God opened the door miraculously for them. They truly experienced that God’s timing is the best.
After the testimony, the two visitors and the museum manager continued their journey in the past and experienced some of the events in the Old and New Testaments, with Andy performing as Joshua conquering the city of Jericho, and Joe and Panda as Joseph and Mary, witnessing the birth of Jesus. These events told them the linkage between the Old Testament and the New Testament, reminding them of the meanings of Holy Communion and spiritual warfare.
Then Pastor Gavin preached on Luke 1:32-33. God reigns since the time of creation and He reigns today and tomorrow. All things were created through Him and for Him. And God reigns over nations and over His people, despite the presence of peace or war, and in the midst of good times or evil times. God also reigns over the human heart. Whatever we have in our heart, God still reigns. He observes and cares about every decision we have to make, though he gives us the choice to choose out of His great love. However, human sins destroyed God’s reign in human’s heart, causing death to reign over humanity. Today, what we need most is the peace that comes from Christ. Let us place our faith in Jesus so that we can have the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness.
Thank God for giving us grace and peace through Christ Jesus. Let us continue to let God reign in our life.
