Caring the Community, Sharing God’s Love #1

Praise the Lord for guiding us to extend love and compassion to the community ! A special event combining a birthday party and Easter festivities was successfully organized for the elderly. A committed group of 6 sisters came together at the Y Care center of the Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association in Yau Yat Chuen to prepare every detail for the celebration.

Around 10:00am, 14 elders joined the event. We warmly greeted and introduced ourselves to all the attending elders, followed by a prayer led by sister Sammie to kick-start the celebration. Birthday gifts prepared by sister Penny were presented to those with birthdays from January to March, and a cake was enjoyed by all. Furthermore, each elder received a blessing bag containing essential items for daily living, along with a personalized card featuring Bible verses.

After enjoying the cake, sister Elaine guided the elders through a video song depicting the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Moved by the melody and lyrics, the elders were motivated to do gentle exercises aimed at strengthening their physical well-being, fostering a cheerful ambiance resonating with joy.

Following this, sister Pik Sai organized a fun game to involve the elders, fostering a sense of connection among everyone present. They watched a video explaining the profound grace and significance of Easter. The room filled with happiness and liveliness when the elders joined a question and answer session.

After the engaging activities, we individually conversed with and prayed for the elders, demonstrating our heartfelt concern for their needs. The celebration ended around 11:00am.
