Lunar New Year 2021
February 14, 2021
This Lunar New Year (LNY) Service was online.
This was a special day – the third day of LNY and Valentine’s Day. The service started with a song presented by Pastor Gavin’s family, glorifying the sweetness of God, with Arlene the lead vocal and Daniel on the piano. Pastor Gavin then shared on Proverbs 16:24 about how words are powerful. We reap what we sow, therefore, we should speak what we want to see, and bless others with sweet words.
As the service was online, we creatively blessed each other with videos from each group, blessing another group with sweet words, songs, dances, and skits. Sister Rosa then led us into a sweet, joyful, and pleasant praise and worship.
Brother Wai Hong testified on how God blessed him in his career. God led him to a new job opportunity after he committed it in prayers. The day after the interview, he was informed of his benefits and the salary was 20% more than his current job. Receiving such a message, he confidently resigned but then he did not receive any news for some time. So he called them and came to know that they could only offer 20% less instead. He then had to look for other jobs but God opened doors and gave him two offers. After praying, he accepted the one with less salary but more time to serve God and be with his family. He looks forward to glorifying God in whatever he does. He shared the Bible Scripture, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34).
Pastor Arlene shared on Proverbs 16:24, “Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones”, entitling the message, “Sweet Word of God”. Words are powerful, so we should speak of what we want to see and words that build up each other. God’s Word is the living water that nourishes our souls and blesses us from the inside out. When we receive God’s Word and let it overflow in our life, we can speak it out in a way that blesses and builds up each other, including ourselves. God’s Word can purify us, grant us peace, strengthen and renew us. Let us also work with God to pour out blessings onto others through our mouths.
May each and every one of us be blessed with great health and abundance in Christ.
Happy New Year !
