Caring the Elderly with St. James Settlement at Sheung Wan

Praise be to the Lord for His guidance ! Filled with the spirit to share God’s love within the community, our church has been actively supporting the Home Care and Support Services program organized by St. James Settlement for more than a decade. The actions are inspired by the teaching in Acts 20:35, reminding us of the truth that “it is more blessed to give than to receive.”

Over the last year, in supporting St. James Settlement, this outreach involved regular monthly visits to elderly residents living in Sheung Wan. Around 10 dedicated brothers and sisters of our church, led by brother Wai Hong, made scheduled visits to elderly individuals or couples, offering them nourishing soup and blessing bags filled with essential items.

Some members also actively involved their children in these activities, passing on the spirit of love to the next generation. This involvement planted seeds of compassion and service in the hearts of the young ones.

Through this activity, the brothers and sisters nurtured intimate bonds with the elders, gaining an understanding of the hardships and obstacles they encountered, and brought peace and joy to the elderly through prayers. This hands-on approach not only expressed love but also provided a platform to share the Gospel, enabling that the elders felt cherished and supported within the community.
