Water Baptism 2025
Jun 22, 2025
Praise God for this wonderful day ! 16 brothers and sisters underwent water baptism to affirm their dedication to follow Jesus. We were truly blessed to experience light showers mingled with gentle sea breeze and sunshine, cooling down the hot afternoon. Hallelujah !
At 3:00pm, the church office arranged 2 coaches to transport most attendees from Edge in Kwai Hing to Lido Beach in Ting Kau. Upon arrival, preparations for the ceremony began. By 3:30pm, over 100 brothers and sisters including those who arrived independently had gathered. Brother Jack started the ceremony by leading us in a spirit-filled prayer. Then brother Lawrence led us into a joyful praise and worship session, accompanied by brother Chun Nam’s guitar melodies.
Pastor Gavin shared with the congregation the spiritual significance of water baptism. Just as the Israelites were delivered from Egyptian slavery and crossed the Red Sea, this sacred act symbolizes our salvation from sin and life’s trials through the blood of Jesus Christ. Immersing into the water represents the death of Jesus and submission of the old selves to God, while rising from the water symbolizes Christ’s resurrection, marking the rebirth as new creations in the Lord Jesus.
After crossing the Red Sea, the Israelites were guided to move forward by God’s presence as the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night. Similarly, after baptism, we are called to move forward, faithfully following Jesus without turning back. As members of the family of God, we witness and experience divine miracles like the Israelites in the wilderness.
Pastor Gavin also reminded us of the 2 questions that would be asked during the baptismal process:
- Do you accept Jesus to be your Lord and Savior?
- Will you still follow Christ regardless of the situations?
Following this, he led the congregation in a heartfelt prayer, seeking God’s blessings upon those preparing for baptism. Certificates were presented one by one, and we proceeded with eager hearts to the shore for the baptism.
Throughout the process, brothers and sisters witnessing the baptism joyfully sang praise and worship songs in unity. Flowers and souvenirs were presented to those being baptized, and photos were taken to commemorate this graceful occasion. The smiling faces and rejoicing hearts of the participants bore a powerful testimony of God’s love and salvation. The ceremony concluded around 4:30pm.
Congratulations and a warm welcome to all the new members ! All the glory belongs to God, Amen !
