Water Baptism II
July 8, 2007
Praise God for the sunshine and a bright day on this special Sunday, 31 brothers and sisters took the step of faith to dedicate their lives to God through water baptism. More than 60 brothers and sisters gathered in Repulse Bay to witness this special event. The ceremony was chaired by brother Vicky and brother Sing led the congregation to sing praise to our Lord.
Water baptism is a dedication to follow the Lord and to be His disciple. It also symbolizes our death, burial and resurrection in Christ. It is stated in the Bible that, “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”” (Romans 6:4)”.
The first testimony was given by sister Pamela from SD5, she used to be a short tempered person and had faced lots of stress on job, relationship with friends and family. But her elder sister always supported her in the hardships. However, her elder sisters passed away in 2003. Sister Pamela and her family were so sad and they even did not know what to do without her elder sister. One of her friends invited her to Sunday service, she was touched by the Praise and Worship and she accepted Christ at the end of the preaching. She was impressed by the the love of God through the word of God, prayers, and the fellowship with brothers & Sisters. We thank God for His love and mercy to each of us.
Sister Anna, who is also from SD5, was lack of confident due to the weak in hearing and also afraid to express her love and care to others. In the church local camp this year, God had taken away all the burdens and heal her heart completely. Sister Anna was deeply touched by the love of God; now she learns how to rely on God and follows His guidance wholeheartedly. In the near future, sister Anna hopes to become a shepherd and win more souls for Jesus. Praise God!
Brother Liu from our mission center shared how he came to know God and experienced His blessings. He was invited by his friend to care group. Through the encouragement of brothers and sisters, he was touched by their care and accepted Christ .He also shared how God helped him in the driving test and now he receives true joy, peace, and happiness. We thank God that He is our provider and His blessings are sufficient for us. Hallelujah!
Pastor Gavin explained the meaning of water baptism and presented the certificates to the 31 new lives. And accompanied by their shepherds, the new lives went into the water and be baptized by Pastor Gavin and brother Michael.
Praise the Lord for these brothers and sisters. Let us continue to serve Him faithfully and take good care of all His new creations.
