Water Baptism I
April 24, 2011
Praise God for a special day for 43 brothers and sisters who took the step of faith to receive water baptism on 24 April.
After the joyful Easter Sunday service, nearly 250 brothers and sisters and friends, headed toward Repulse Bay in total 5 shuttle bus. Thank God for providing perfect weather for the early summer day – not too hot and no rain at all!
Ceremony kicked off with a simple prayer led by brother Jack, chairperson of the event, and followed with joyful praise led by brother Alex. After the praise session, all participants were gathered together in front of the congregation and Pastor Gavin reminded all of us that it is God’s desire for us to be baptized by water, and the process of submerging into water and rising again symbolizes our old-selves had died together with Christ, and the rising up signified resurrection of Christ had brought new life unto us.
Then to those going to be baptised,Pastor Gavin asked 3 questions:
1) Have you received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?
2) Are you willing to continue to walk with Jesus Christ no matter what happen?
3) Are you willing to commit your life to extend the Kingdom of God?
Praise God that all affirmed their decisions of following Christ.
Then they queued up on beach and being baptized one by one, while whole congregation kept on singing and praising. Newly baptized brothers and sisters were warmly greeted by brothers and sisters and friends, and flowers and photographing were seen in every corner.
Thank God that the whole ceremony ran very smoothly and surely this was a day with special memories for all of us!
