Water Baptism III
October 10, 2004
From the New Testament, Matthew 28:19, Jesus commanded His disciples,”Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Water baptism is an important and privileged ceremony for those who have repented and entrusted to follow Christ. As Christians, we are taught to understand that the death of Jesus on the cross symbolized the death of our old sinful nature, and the immersion in water (water baptism) represents His burial in the tomb, and the point of emergence from the water indicates a new life alike Christ’s resurrection.
Praise God for the 29 brothers and sisters’ willingness to acknowledge Jesus before men, and proclaiming their faith in Christ. Certainly our Father in Heaven blessed us with a warm sunny afternoon despite the cold spell throughout the week. The ceremony chaired by Brother Jack commenced at 15:00, after giving thanks to God, Brother Ray led all brothers, sisters and friends to honor Him with songs of Praise and Worship. Three sisters testified and reconfirmed their step of faith before the witnesses and all were water-baptized by Pastor Gavin assisted by Brother Allen and Sister Rosanna. We thank the Lord for His salvation and continuous blessings. Let us follow Jesus in fulfilling His great commission and take good care of these new creations.
