Chtistmas Celebration

December 25, 2005

What Christmas gifts have you received in the past Christmas season, chocolates, ties, bags or flowers? Some people may think these are too ordinary, just like the characters in the skit. What kind of Christmas gift do you want this year? Do you want something special? In this Christmas service, 13 of our friends received the best gift they have ever got, that is, the salvation from our Lord Jesus Christ!

“Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!” (2 Corinthians 9:15) Jesus is the best gift God has ever given to us. We have to give God the best too. Five brothers and sisters gave their best testimonies to God on this Christmas Day. They are Jennifer, Pui Ki and Man Yee from G3, Gemma from G7 and Franco from G2. The three teenage girls who once regarded Christmas as a season to play are now seeing this festival a time to spread the Gospel because they have already got the best gift in their lives and they have the passion to share this wonderful gift with their friends and classmates. Sister Gemma has been working in Hong Kong as a domestic helper for a few years. Since she received Jesus Christ, her life has been transformed. She has been experiencing God’s presence and power. She is now taking care of 30 people in the Filipino Group. Praise God for blessing her life and making her a blessing to others. Brother Franco has been joining Hope Church for a year. He thanked God for blessing his life. The first blessing is that his mother accepted Christ in our church 13th Anniversary in August 2005. The second and third blessings are that he has been growing steadily in the Lord and his hope in the Lord, particularly the hope of growing to be a shepherd to take care of the sheep of the Lord. Our brothers and sisters have been experiencing different blessings from God, but they all start with knowing Jesus Christ!

From the Bible, we know that the Magi brought three expensive gifts for baby Jesus. They were gold, incense and myrrh. Gold was a gift for a king, which means Jesus is our king. Incense was a gift for deity, which means that Jesus is God and is worthy of our worship. Myrrh was a spice for a person who was going to die, which indicates that Jesus would die for us. In this Christmas season, we always think of what gift to receive or what gift to give for our friends and family, but have we thought of something for our Lord Jesus Christ, the one who gave His life for us even when we do not know Him? Let’s make a determination to give our life to Jesus and give the best for God’s work!

Praise God for this joyful Christmas Service and let’s carry on focus on evangelize and taking care of the new believers for our Lord.
