Water Baptism I
April 3, 2005
Water baptism is a dedication to follow the Lord and to be His disciple. It also symbolizes our death, burial and resurrection in Christ. It is stated in the Bible that, “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” (Romans 6:4).
Praise God for the 24 brothers and sisters who took the step in faith to dedicate their lives to Jesus Christ through water baptism. There were no fewer than 70 brothers, sisters and friends gathered in Repulse Bay to witness and share this wonderful moment.
The ceremony was led by Brother Allen, chaired by Brother Eric and translated by Sister Ivy. After giving thanks to the Lord, Brother Ray led the congregation to praise and worship the Lord with songs.
Brother Way from Group 3 testified how he came to know Christ and experience overwhelming love from God through brothers and sisters. Sister Angela invited him to her care group and also encouraged him to attend church. When he knows more about God, his faith began to grow. God has also changed him and brought peace to his life. He looks forward to be changed and used by God in order to share the love of God with friends around him.
The second testimony was given by Brother Leung from Group 6. Months ago he was lost and was looking for direction in his life, hoping that someone could show him the right church. One day, Brother Man called him to share the gospel and invited him to our church. He came and accepted Christ on that Sunday. He experienced God’s love and his desire to serve Him continued to grow. He ended his testimony with the Bible verses of “Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door shall be opened to you.”
The third testimony was shared by Thai Sister Pheanmanee from Group 8. She accepted Christ four months ago. Before that she had bitterness and jealousy in her heart. She has been changed by God’s unconditional love. God also answered her prayers and she can attend all the Sunday services now. She believes that God will open the way if we pray specifically according to His will. She is now praying that her boss will let her off to join the Hope camp.
Under the sunny weather, the 24 brothers and sisters, accompanied by their shepherds, were water-baptized by Brother Allen (assisted by Brother Yong and Sister Deborah). We thank God for his salvation and wonderful blessings. Let us continue to serve Him and take good care of all His new creations.
