Water Baptism III

October 1, 2006

Praise the Lord for the 24 brothers and sisters who took the step of faith to dedicate their lives to God through water-baptism on 1st of October. Over 70 brothers and sisters gathered at Repulse Bay to witness this precious moment.

The ceremony was chaired by Brother Vicky. After giving thanks to the Lord, Brother Philip led the congregation to praise our Lord.

The first testimony was given by sister Marilyn. Her pervious employer forced her to work illegally in their business. Sister Marilyn knew that it was against the law. She reported to the immigration and the case was brought to the court. She did not have money to hire a lawyer and she had to do everything by herself. After three hearings, she realized that she could not handle it without a lawyer. God answered her prayer and blessed her with a lawyer who was free of charge. At the end, the case was dismissed and she was allowed to look for a new employer. Two days later, she was recommended to work for a British family with a higher pay. God also healed her mother from stroke and delivered her brother from false accusation. Clearly, God is not only our savior, but also our provider and healer.

Sister Nida accepted Christ for three months. In the past, she was easy to get angry with her younger sister, a Christian. She even prohibited her nephew to attend church. Her sister keeps explaining to her the importance of knowing God and finally, sister Nida accepted Christ as her personal savior. Praise the Lord for giving her strength to overcome her weaknesses such as idols worshiping, gambling, and alcohol drinking. And the blessings and protection of God was also upon her husband and family.

The last testimony was given by sister Erica. She testified how God has changed her heart. She used to be a bad-tempered, insecure, and pessimistic person. She had a poor relationship with her family. When she first came to know God, she did not seek God seriously and finally left Him. After a few years, her Christian friends shared the gospel with her when she was down. Sister Erica made a decision to walk with God and she was born again. By God’s teachings, she learned how to forgive, love and care for others. Her burdens, loneliness, and sadness were taken away. She experienced the love of God just as the Bible stated in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come.” Her mother was so glad to see the change of her. Sister Erica prayed that she could be salt and light for the Lord.

Praise the Lord for all the new creations. Let us join our hearts and carry on work together to enlarge His kingdom.
