15th Church Anniversary Banquet
August 19, 2007
During the evening, more than 370 brothers and sisters went to Wan Chai in 60/70’s fashion to celebrate our 15th Anniversary at King Palace Chinese Restaurant.
The banquet was kicked off with a toast led by Pastor Gavin with all the Sub-District Leaders. After several dishes, programmes were carried out by our cheerful presenters, sister Ivy and brother Alex. Through the games we broke the ice and gave an opportunity for all the Sub-District to collaboratively work together to complete a picture puzzle. The final piece was furnished by Pastor Gavin and his family. This activity served this purpose as an indication of our church to be united always. Following the activity, we had a video “Recap 2006-2007”. We have all enjoyed watching the memorable moments of last year. What a blessing to be in the family of God!
Following the video recap, Pastor Gavin challenged us to be part of the team in building a bigger place for our entire church and we were encouraged to sacrificially pledge ourselves to contribute about a month’s salary for the building fund. Every brother and sister willingly pledged their lives and salary for the expansion of God’s kingdom.
The Best of the Best awards were given to Sub-Districts who had growth in different areas. It included Best Growing, Best Attendance in Word for Life, Best for New Believer Converts and Best in shepherding ratio…etc.
Excitement and laughter from the crowd came when results of the best dressed brother and sister in 60/70’s were announced. For the brothers, Brother Andrew and Brother Martin both ended up at first place when their dressing was incredibly like a cloned-pair with their extra-big glasses. As for the sisters, Auntie Catherine emerged as the best dressed of 60/70.
It has been 15 years since our church first started in Hong Kong. That means 15 years of sowing and reaping and experiencing God’s faithfulness. God has been great and never lack of blessings and surprises. Let’s continue to rely on God and work together to “Venture into the New Realm” !
Amen!
