Baby Dedication

January 28, 2007

Praise the Lord that 11 babies and children were dedicated by their parents on the Parent-Child Dedication Service with the aim of bringing up their children in God’s way so that they will grow up with God’s righteousness and will independently accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior when they are mature enough to understand the truth of the Gospel. As the Bible states, “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” (Proverbs 22:6) The dedication prayer does not make children become Christian, but to bestow God’s blessing, grace, love and spiritual protection upon them. The prayer also strengthens the parents to bring up the children with wisdom.

The event started with a slide presentation which revealed all the lovely and energetic babies and children in church. The M.C of this event, Sister Terri, invited parents of the children to be dedicated on the stage; Pastor Gavin asked all the parents five pledge questions and the parents made a promise to the Lord to raise the child in a godly way. After that, Pastor Gavin prayed for them earnestly such as taking the responsibilities of demonstrating an example of godliness, teaching and training the child by the word of God, giving spiritual guidance and anticipating for the day when the child will be ready to receive Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. For the last two questions, Pastor Gavin invited the congregation to make a covenant with those parents to provide a loving church home and teach the word of God continuously to all the children in the church. At the end of the ceremony, Pastor Gavin presented the Dedication Certificate to all these parents and closed with a prayer. We thank God for His blessings in each family. Let’s keep on praying for the children and walk with God wholeheartedly.
