Easter Celebration
April 8, 2007
More than 400 brothers, sisters and friends joined our Easter Service on April 8. It started with a powerful praise and worship led by Brother Allen.
What is your reaction if your family member has loaned a huge sum of money? In the skit of our Easter Sunday Service, the son chose to bring the family to seek God. The situation sounded familiar as quite a lot of Hong Kong people have experienced financial difficulties in the past years. The ending of the skit brought us hope and peace.
Three brothers and sisters testified how good God is. Sister Tikanda accepted Christ seven years ago. Before that, she felt upset with her job and family. As a result, she indulged in drinking and smoking. When her mother brought her to church, she was touched by the love of God and started joining the gatherings on Sundays and care group. After the conversion, she quitted those bad habits and let God be the master of her life. She believes that it is God who has called her and changed her life.
Brother Samuel accepted Christ in 2004. In the past, he had difficulty in relating to people. He did not trust others. The situation was even worse after he broke up with his girlfriend. However, this insecure feeling towards people was wiped away. In the family of God, he experiences God’s love and care. Now he enjoys his church life very much and is serving God in various ministries.
Sister Doris shared that she was brought up in a Catholic family and had been going to church since childhood, yet she did not have the faith that she could go to heaven. She loves her family so much that she does not want to be separated from them. In 2004, she came to our church. She was impressed by the joy of the brothers and sisters during praise and worship. She no longer fears death and separation because she knows that God has given her an eternal life. She also has faith that her family will enter heaven in the future.
Pastor Gavin’s preaching was about what Moses said to the Israelites to encourage them to choose a life in God from Deuteronomy 30:11-20. The message tells us to choose life because it is available and worthwhile. It is not something that is out of our reach. God gives us a brand new life through Jesus Christ. Though we may feel our lives are worthless at times, God values our lives. He wants to bless us and prosper us. Moses reminded the Israelites to choose life because the only other option is death. If we do not choose life, it means that we choose death and destruction. Another reason to choose life is for our children’s sake. If we choose God’s way and His life, our children will follow our footsteps. We have to set a good example for our children.
Thank God for giving us a brand new life through Jesus Christ. Let’s treasure what we have and bring more people to know God. Seventeen friends have started their new lives in Christ at this Easter. Praise God!
