Water Baptism I

April 26, 2009

Thank God for the special day that 28 brothers and sisters stepped out their faith to dedicate their life to God through water-baptism. Even though it was raining, it did not diminish our excitement toward this ceremony. Like our chairman Brother Jack shared, “clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy.” (Psalm 47). There were more than 100 brothers and sisters gathered at Repulse Bay to witness and support this precious occasion.

According to the Bible, every Christian has to be baptized as it is one of Jesus’ commandments. Water baptism is a dedication to follow the Lord and to be His disciple. It also symbolizes our death, burial and resurrection in Christ.

After a short prayer by Brother Jack (translated by Sister Anny), Brother Ray led the congregation to sing praises to our Lord. Then Pastor Gavin asked our new lives three questions. First, whether they had accepted Jesus as their only Lord and Savior; Second, whether they had repented for their sins and third whether they had decided to follow Jesus for the rest of their lives by regular praying, Bible-reading, commitment to the church and serving God with brothers and sister faithfully. After receiving the affirmative answers from the new lives, Pastor Gavin presented the certificates to them. In the meantime, each of them also shared his/her thanksgiving to God, Most of them thank God for His love, faith, hope, life revival, family restoration, healing, and change of character to be more perseverance and patient etc…After that, each new life was accompanied by their shepherds and went into the water to be baptized by Pastor Gavin and Brother Yong. Other brothers and sisters continued to sing praises to our Lord and cheered to them.

Praise God for the new creations. May the Lord continue to equip each of us to be the Salt and Light for His kingdom. Hallelujah!
