Father’s Day

June 19, 2011

Praise God that a total of 28 fathers were present on Fathers’ day. Instant photos were taken with fathers in the photo corner and smiles are worn on everyone’s face in the church.

The service started with a word of prayer from chairman Bro Jack and then followed by a powerful praise and worship session and a wonderful testimony by sis Ah Chung from SD5. In her testimony, she shared about how God blessed her and helped her in her career. Though she met setbacks and decided to quit the job, God is faithful and immediately provided her with a good job and a boss who care about her well being. She has learned to be patient and caring to her colleagues using God’s strength and she is much happier. She shared the bible verse Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd and I shall no be in want to encourage all that God is always there for us.

All eyes were glittering as they watch growing up story pictures of 4 sisters with their beloved father, bringing back loving childhood memories of those in the congregation.
“You make me cry make me smile

Make me feel that love is true
Thank you for your care and your priceless love
All the years through, you put my feelings before yoursOh I love you.”

The song <In the world > presented by our sisters. The lyrics truly expressed our gratitude to our earthly and heavenly Father.

Pastor Gavin took this opportunity to invite all fathers to come to the stage. He shared about father being the head of the family and invited all fathers to pray for God’s blessing and protection of their family.

Praise God, all fathers responded and stretched out their hand to pray for their family. It was a glorious moment to see all fathers doing that in unity. After which our lovely children from Sunday school presented all fathers with our token of appreciation.

Following that Pastor Gavin shared the message about honoring our Father. Deuteronomy 5:16 “”Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

Honoring God carries reward and we need all to honour God with our lives. Pastor Gavin also shares that our salvation is a gift not a reward. It was given to us out of God’s love for us. We will be fully rewarded when we give 100% honor to God, humbling ourselves before the cross. Godly honor comprises of honoring God and those in authority (which includes our governing authority, bosses, parents and our leaders in church), last and not least honoring each other.

  • We honor not because what the governing authority do but who we are.
  • We honor not because what our boss gives us but what Jesus have given us.
  • We honor not because what our parents have done but who they are.
  • We honor not because how well our spiritual leaders have serve but they are God appointment.

Honor should be originated from our hearts. We should learn to live our lives to honor God.

After the service, different units had different arrangements to have lunch fellowship together with their respective fathers.
