Hope Couples

August 25, 2013

Praise the Lord for a great time of fellowship among the couples.

With the theme “Hope-comes true”(“望‧願望成真”), the Hope Couples 2013 was held on 25 August at the Club House of Yoho Midtown.  There were 20 couples joining together.  Event started with a warm welcoming and romantic love songs.

Joyful praise led by sister Elaine and brother Wai Hong. Games led by brother Vicky and Clemens, both brought all the attendees joy and laughters.

Main content was delivered via activities and sharing.  The first one was “Everyone has a dream” ( 一人有一個夢想 ).  Couples were encouraged to remember their day of wedding …… full of love and hope for future.   The question is “what do you expect from your spouse now”?   Those “hopes” were written down on papers and then summarized on board to share.  The main point was those “hopes” were not difficult to come true.   We should always have HOPES.

Then followed by the second activity called “Heaven & Earth”( 「天與地」).  Couples were asked to write down their spouse’s merits on the “big” stickers and then put on the front body while the demerits be written on the “small” stickers and then put on the leg.  People are not perfect.   If we focus on our spouse’s demerit (looking downward), we feel hard to get along with.   In the other way, we admire each other’s merit if we look at the merits as well as looking upward for the power of love from God.  All couples definitely got to love each other more.  And this part ended with praying with spouse in an intimate atmosphere.

Pastor Gavin gave a brief sharing about how couples should respond to one another when situation was not as good as expected.  He gave us a good example: Adam and Eve from the bible.   Couple tended to blame the spouse and forgot his/her own responsibilities when problems come.  Human are not perfect.  Even we got married we still do things wrong some times.  As husband and wife, we should do things that a spouse should do and have to learn to appreciate one another.  And, it was very important to have God’s presence in the relationship.  With the presence of God, husband and wife should be grateful to see one another in the first sight in the morning and in the bedtime being together.  Both parties need to appreciate their spouse in areas of different habits and characters.

The event ended in a warm and intimate atmosphere.
