Mother’s Day
May 12, 2013
Mothers arrived and took photos with their second generations at the beautiful photo taking corner prepared for them. They were joyful to have the printed out for them immediately.
The congregation was filled with mothers of all ages. Love and warmth filled the air. Everyone welcomed each other with handshakes and hugs. The event started with a prayer and a glorifying worship by Sister Rosa. Sister Yoyo of SD2, shared how she has been wanting to have a baby ; and after her sister brought her to church, she accepted Christ. Her faith gradually grew and committed faithfully in prayers for God’s grace. Her husband also started coming to church and she praised the Lord that they were able to walk together in the Lord. God indeed heard her prayers and she conceived. Her relationship with her mother improved much as she began to understand that kind of unconditional love and bond with the child. She thanked the Lord and her mother. Today, she is already a mother and she appreciated for God’s faithfulness upon her in every way.
After the wonderful testimony , the children church presented the lovely song “”Mum is the best in the world”” . The lovely voices echoed into the hearts of all. Then, all mothers were invited to stage where they were presented with roses by the children. Everyone was trying to capture this special moment. Pastor Gavin led the whole congregation in praying for them.
Pastor Arlene preached ‘Love your mother’ from John 19:26-27. She stated two points Love Mother with Action and Love Mother with God’s Grace. We were invited to recall our memory of our mothers when we were young. We were then encouraged to think carefully and consider what memories we should keep – good or bad. We should learn to keep the good memories and not the bad. Love disciplines and discipline is never comfortable therefore might seem to be bad memories. All mothers love their children and will give their best at all times. We must have a thankful heart, a heart of gratitude. No matter what we have done wrong, mothers forgive and accommodate with love. Many times things might fail in life but what matter is: God’s grace is sufficient and, with this grace, we bless our mothers and learn to be a better son or daughter.
At the end of the service, from the sweet smiles on mothers’ faces, we could feel the joy in their hearts.
May we lift His name with our true gratitude and love for our mothers!
