Bible Conference 2019

September 14,2019

The theme this year is “I Trust”.

It is great to see the Church filled up with brothers and sisters from Hope Land, Hope Philippines, and of course Hope Hong Kong. Pastor Gavin started with 2 Corinthians 1:9-10 setting the pace for the conference. We can trust God to deliver us from death, from everything in fact. He also invited the congregation to use “Slido” to post question or share what they received from the conference. Pastor wants the conference to be more interactive, love to hear from the congregation.

The conference was divided into 4 lessons :
1. Trust in the Lord
2. Delight Ourselves in the Lord
3. Commit our Way to the Lord
4. Rest in the Lord

Lesson 1 – Trust in the Lord
Psalm 37:3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. When we trust in God it brings us perfect peace. (Isa 26:3) When we acknowledge His presence in our lives, we will be more aware of God’s lead in our lives. God supplies exceedingly abundantly and He works in ways different from men. God is always faithful to His promise. God gives us free choice and everything is for His Kingdom. As we walk in with Him, He will lead us to experience His Grace and His blessings for us in our lives. Give that and keeping serving the Lord with T.R.I.C.K.

  • Trust
  • Respect
  • Identity
  • Collaboration
  • Kindness

Pastor Gavin encouraged us to grow to trust God, humbling ourselves before God, grow with people we trust and be in a church that trust God. To always avail ourselves for God’s plan – sharing His Love to people around us.

Lesson 2 – Delight Ourselves in the Lord
Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Delight is a condition of our heart as it reflects our trust in God. Sins caused our hearts to be harden and become insensitive to God’s leading. It is only when we invite Jesus into our lives again that will soften our hearts. Keep the focus on Jesus instead of what he can brings you in life. That will bring right action in your life, which will point the world towards Jesus. Pastor Gavin encouraged us to keep listening to God, let His Words serve us. When we keep seeking His presence in our life, His desire will become ours. Keep being humble before Him.

Lesson 3- Commit our way to the Lord
Psalm 37:5-6  Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday. Commitment is a choice that we have to make in our lives. As we know God more, from “spiritual babies” we grow to become “fathers” who know God and then become “young man” whom overcome by standing firm in Christ. Joseph’s reflected life of Christ. He allows God to take control of every aspect of his life and glorify God with praises and thanksgiving despite the circumstances that he is in. Pastor Gavin encourage us to respond to Him in Faith.

Pastor Gavin shared about His journey with God.

1989 – He responded to God’s calling, at that time he was a university student in Australia. He hadn’t heard of Hope church yet.

1999 – He started to Pastor Hope of God Church Hong Kong.

2009 – Pastor Gavin was thinking if he should be a full time pastor but after praying with the leadership team. He will remain where he is. Pastor Gavin learn to humble himself and commit the church into God’s hands.

2010 – God open the way for our church to go to Manila for Medical Relief despite the circumstances.

2019 – God has continued in His providence, even though things happened in the church was unfavourable, but God is faithful. The church is still committing into mission and we had brought about tens of thousands of people to know Christ.

Pastor Gavin encouraged us to commit everything into God hands and see His miracles at work in our lives.

Lesson 4 – Rest in the Lord
Psalm 37:7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. God’s plan for us is to receive from Him and rest in his providence. But  man tend to plan for their own future and doing what they think is good (Deut. 12:8-10). Resting is to listen more to His Words, listening to what God has done for us. When we believe in Jesus , we are walking in the completed work of God. Be patient as God works in ways that is beyond our comprehension. During the time of waiting focus on his love and give thanks.
