Annual Church Camp – Life Put on the Spirit of Christ

Mar 12-13, 2022

This year we successfully carried on with our annual church online despite the Covid 19 restriction. This is the time! We need God’s Word ever more especially during this unexpected prolonged season in our lives. The two days was filled with God blessings presence through His words — Life Put on the Spirit of Christ.

We were so blessed to have Pastor Gavin and Arlene, along with sis Ivy, sis Lolita, sis Rosanna, sis Kat, sis Pik Sai and sis Janelle sharing in different aspects of our key bible verse: Put on Christ’s Spirit in Wisdom, Put on Christ’s Spirit in Understanding, Put on Christ’s Spirit in Knowledge and Put on Christ’s Spirit in Workmanship.

Exodus 31:1-6 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: “See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, to design artistic works, to work in gold, in silver, in bronze, in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of workmanship. “And I, indeed I, have appointed with him Aholiab the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and I have put wisdom in the hearts of all the gifted artisans, that they may make all that I have commanded you.”

In the opening, Pastor Gavin shared with the congregation about the world we are living in. Confused is the word that he used to describe it. There are so many ways that we can receive information, but wisdom is needed to verify the validity of the information. To the extent that we are starting to craft what we received as the internet will feed us with our own preference with the development of AI. Everyone wants to be wise and would find our own preferred way to grow our wisdom, understanding or knowledge. But the truth is that wisdom does not come from how much we study, how much experience we have, or even how old we are. In fact, Wisdom is Jesus. Knowing Jesus would not get us wisdom, we need to “get” them through knowing Him more and more.

The teachings go deeper into when, what, and how to receive.  Having the humble heart, we will be able to receive from Jesus. We do not ask God “Why?”, instead we seek for His wisdom. We should keep our hearts humble, seek Him to understand when going through different issues, problems in our lives. That is the beginning of growing in understanding. Embracing Jesus equals to embracing Wisdom. When we have an intimate relationship with Jesus, knowing what He has done on the cross for us, the implication of His action. This understanding will further build our trust in Him to receive the Wisdom and Power of God.  Listening to our teacher the Holy Spirit putting our trust in Him. Let His words and our Spiritual home be the place where we grow our understanding. We will grow to see the importance of the Word of God and seeking Godly counsellors in our lives.

On the second day, Pastor also shared about growing our knowledge through the Word of God Being a Bible Based Believer (BBB). Living out His Grace, Love and being the salt and light. Seek to have a heart knowledge of God, especially in His love.  Lean towards His love, then we will know how to use the wisdom and understanding given by God, not to show off, but to bless and to glorify God. Knowing God in His Love, when we look back in our lives we can see that God do everything out of Love, if we can see that we will be able to discern the leading of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Living out the love and wisdom, “Wise as Serpents and Harmless as Doves”, being a wise believer.

We are a masterpiece that reveals God’s grace in our lives. Who are we reflected His Glory. God loves us and He gives us what we need because of His Grace. God wants us to enlarge ourselves –our thinking – because we serve a big God who have already prepared for us manifold grace. We should not be limiting God in our lives on what we can do. Pastor Arlene also shared God has given us the imagination to do things and encouraged us to use it for the Kingdom of God. The imagination formed in our heart based on our knowledge of Him, which in turn will be realized to Glorify Him. God does not want us to perfect as we never be. The important thing is to put on the Spirit of Christ, walk according to the Spirit and focus on the fact that we are under the sense of God’s love and favour. Listen and respond to what the Spirit prompts us to do. This is how we build a church that is of beauty and giving glory to God. Praise God!

With an array of messages, we also have engaging activities to keep us active online. There are exercises for us to move our body and guessing songs sung by bros and sister in different languages. Everyone was so creative with their answers. On the last day of Camp, we met up in different groups on the zoom to create videos on different task that we are assigned to. Thanks to our MLT bros and sis who edited them, shared them before the closing. This gives us a great opportunity to see one another online.

Praise God for the wonderful time spent together though physically apart but connected in Spirit. I believe that we all feel so relaxed to be submerged in His love and Words. And grown much wiser these two days as we commit our time into His hands. Let us Put on the Spirit of Christ and allow the Spirit to lead us to fulfill His will in our lives. God bless !!
