Easter Celebration

Mar 27, 2016

On 27 March 2016, the Filipino, Thai, Youth and Cantonese Groups joined together at Hope Centre to celebrate the finished work of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Following the showing of the video opening, brothers and sisters praised and worshipped the Lord who sacrificed His life 2000 years ago.

After partaking communion, it was time for the video testimonies.

First, sister Zoe from Group 5 shared how God came into her life during a time of despair and gave her comfort. Before, she felt that she could not do anything well, but through different ministries, God used her life and her talents in ways that she never imagined.

Sister Ivycar from Group 1 then shared how God restored her relationship with her ex-husband six years after his sudden disappearance. Through the years, she kept serving God and learnt to give thanks in all circumstances. Our God is indeed a faithful God.

Lastly, sister Carrie from Group 2 shared how God blessed her in her examinations, and, although her husband is not yet a Christian, he joined our Medical Relief mission last year. After experiencing God’s amazing work in the Philippines, he would like to join again this year! Praise God!

The congregation was then presented a special drama performance. It was a story about a girl and a seed which was given to her by her late grandmother. She kept the seed in the box and mourned over the death of her grandmother for a long time. Before she left to study abroad, she accidentally lost the seed. Her parents later found the seed and planted it. After a few years when she returned to Hong Kong, she found a new tree in the backyard. The tree was strong and fruitful. She then realized it was what her grandmother wanted her to learn.

The story tied in with the sermon on John 12:23-24 – “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” Pastor Gavin revealed from scriptures that the seed is in fact Jesus Himself, who fell and die for all of us.

His death turned curses into blessings, and we can now become righteous through faith in Him. Pastor also explained that it is God’s will for us to be fruitful and multiply. Just like in the Garden of Eden, God planted many fruitful trees for Adam and Eve, and their job was only to tend, keep and enjoy what was already given to them. Hence, the more we see and live as forgiven and blessed children of God, the more fruits of the spirit can be cultivated in our lives.

At the altar call, brothers and sisters responded to His sacrificial love, and one new believer accepted Christ.

Praise the Lord for His finished work on the cross!

Let us keep proclaiming it every day!
