Joyful Elders (樂在耆中)

May 15, 2026

This is the day that the Lord has made. Brothers and sisters gathered excitedly at Hope Oasis at 9:30am to prepare for the “Joyful Elders (樂在耆中)”. It was an activity that aimed at caring for the elders and sharing God’s love.

Around 10:45am, the guests and family members gradually arrived. MCs brother Pong and sister Coco welcomed everyone and prayed for God’s blessing to all. Sister Stella led an icebreaking game, everyone introduced themselves with a simple characteristic. Afterward, sisters Monica and Susan sang two popular oldies tunes with revised lyrics, sister Stella continued to lead us to play games. There were five games: namely “Passing the Grace (傳遞恩典)”, “Back to the Sheep Pen (歸回羊圈)”, “Reach the Stars (摘取天上星)”, “Break the Bondage (解開捆綁)”, and “Sow the Seeds (撒播種子)”. Everyone enjoyed all the games with laughter.

At 12:10pm, a delicious lunch was prepared at Social Hub. We enjoyed both the food and the sharing with each other. After lunch, brother Martin, together with sister Zandy, led all to do exercises that were good for our health. Brother KT and sister Monica sang “Peace” to remind us that peace is a very important part of health, and only in Christ can we have true peace.

Following that, a video was shown about Madam Flora Lau, who started a gold-plated business with her husband in the 80s. They did very well in the beginning, but lost everything during the 1997 financial crisis. In 1998, they ended the business and started everything from scratch. She was thankful for God’s faithfulness and the care and support of brothers and sisters in the church. She went through the challenges and experienced God’s peace. And she started serving in a ministry to serve those in need through an SOS hotline.

Then, sister Ceres shared how her mother-in-law was saved. One day, after tea, while she was walking along a sidewalk with her relative, a two-meter iron rod suddenly fell from the wall, hitting her on the head and bouncing onto her relative’s arm, leaving her arm a large bruise. She was rushed to the hospital, and the CT scan showed a blood clot in her brain. She had to stay for observation. Brothers and sisters prayed in unity, and when her brain was scanned the next day again, the blood clot was gone. It was a miracle of God’s protection and healing, and then she accepted Christ and kept following Jesus with God’s peace. At the end, sister Kat rounded up with Isaiah 46:4: “I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.” Thank God for His promises.

There were over 30 guests, among them 15 were elders. From their smiling faces, it was clear that they enjoyed the activity. We took a group photo and presented gifts to the elders before they left. We were also touched when brother Pong, sister Coco’s husband, presented her with a bouquet to show his appreciation for her best efforts for the family and the Lord. Praise God for this beautiful moment.

May all glory be unto God, may everyone be healthy, keep following Jesus, and experience more of God’s love and joy in Him.
