Baby Dedication
Sep 10, 2023
Praise the Lord ! We are delighted to organize the first Baby Dedication at Hope Oasis !
Today, we witnessed 6 wonderful couples who dedicated their babies’ lives, a total of 7, to the Lord, They were:
- Philip and Nicole, with their son, Isaac;
- Jacky and Penny, with their son, Jacob;
- Eric and Phoebe, with their son, Kanson;
- Kit and Sharon, with their son, Ethan, and daughter, Ellie;
- Jay and Edith, with their son, Jamie;
- Pong and Coco, with their daughter, Charmaine.
To begin with, Pastor Gavin shared that children are a heritage and a blessing from the Lord as written in Psalm 127:3. The purpose of baby dedication is for parents to wholeheartedly commit themselves to raising their children and helping them grow in the ways of Jesus Christ. Pastor Gavin encouraged the parents to bring up their children according to biblical principles, highlighting Ephesians 6:4, which advises parents to bring children up in the training and instruction of the Lord; and Proverbs 22:6, which reminds parents to train up child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
A video featuring the Baby Dedication Briefing held two weeks ago was presented to show the confirmative faith of the participating parents who followed the advice given in Deuteronomy 6:4-7, which teaches us to love our God with all our heart, soul, and strength, and to talk about God’s commandments, impressing them on our children in every situation. The video also captured the heartwarming moments of parents and children enjoying a delightful afternoon together, making visual artwork that symbolized their wish for the children to lead vibrant and fulfilling lives, growing up strong and healthy under the loving guidance of their parents and the church.
Following the video, a certificate presentation ceremony took place. The parents and their children were invited onto the stage. With their commitment to Christ, they affirmed their responsibility to nurture their children in the presence of the congregation. The mothers were invited to sign the certificates first, followed by the fathers. Then Pastor Gavin signed each certificate and took individual photos with the families. Each family was presented a meaningful gift, which was the memorable artwork created during the briefing session.
Afterward, Pastor Gavin led the congregation in a prayer to bless the families in one spirit. We prayed for God’s anointing and hope upon them, and for the children to grow in love and wisdom through Christ. As a family of God, we committed ourselves to providing support and care for one another, helping the children grow in His ways through prayer and the word of God. The ceremony ended with a joyful atmosphere.
Thank God for all of His leading ! Let us continue to grow together in faith by following Jesus Christ !
