2013 Smile, Care, Love – To Love and Be Loved
“Everyone needs love.” Most will agree, and indeed it is the truth.
This year, the Hope of God Church Hong Kong again went into the community to spread Smile, Care and Love. We went with the important message – not only is it important to love, it is equally important for us to open our hearts to be loved.
On 26 December 2013, the event was held in the Upper Ngau Tau Kok Estate’s Roman Square to share love and joy with the residents nearby
There were many attractions,at the entrance, visitors were greeted with a giant pillar of a few meters high with the theme “微笑、關懷、愛 – 愛與被愛” (Smile, Care, Love – To Love and Be Loved). That became a popular photo-taking spot of the day too.
Right opposite to the giant pillar, the team decorated the area with beautiful decorations of Smile, Care and Love, together with a huge sunflower on the wall. Right next to the entrance, the team prepared an area for green pasture with lovely sheep on it for the children to enjoy, play and take photos. The children loved it very much.
Various game, snack and souvenir stations were also prepared for the visitor to enjoy. Magic shows, ball games, pop-corns, little handcrafted gifts, drawings, etc. were the things that the visitors could have the privilege to enjoy.
For those who preferred inspirational art, the team prepared an exhibition spreading the message of “to love and be loved”. In exhibition pieces, which were entitled Love, Relationship, Concern, Home, Reunion and Blessings respectively, visitors were shown to pictures with a complete contrast. All were serving the purpose of inspiring the visitors to think about life, and make the right choices of embracing and spreading love, of the people, and most importantly, of Jesus Christ.
This year, in addition to dancing and sing,a mini-movie was put online for the public to preview. It was a story about a young man with a great passion for dancing, who gave up his dream and also his fellow dancing teammates to fulfil the wish of his beloved mother. This story was completed by a on-stage drama, in which the young man felt lost for pursuing goals that were not originally what he dreamed for. A conflict with his young brother stimulated his despair for losing his dreams, and it sparked further conflict with his mother. This caused great sorrow for the mother. At the end,the uncle guided the young man to appreciate his mother and to cherish the love of the family.
