Friend’s Day
November 17, 2011
Over 500 brothers, sisters and friends took part in the Friends Day this year. Praise the Lord! On the sunny Sunday morning , the congregation gathered at the Hope Centre in Tsuen Wan for the Sunday Service. Many of them were friends of our brothers and sisters It was indeed a day for friends to be-friend with Jesus Christ!
The congregation greeted one another with joy, and the Praise and Worship Team led all of us into a powerful praise and worship session.
After that, sister Cathy shared her testimony with the congregation on how God blessed her on her career. She was grateful that when she sought the Lord first, the Lord opened a way for her in terms of working hours, and blessed her with an increased remuneration and improved relationship. She shared with the congregation her hope to serve the Lord more and to grow spiritually.
Then, Pastor Gavin Toh shared with the congregation the value of true friendship, and that Jesus Christ stretched out His willing hand to be true friends with us. Pastor Toh invited the congregation to hold the hand of Jesus tightly and accept Him as our best friend who knew us better than anyone else. He shared that we should have faith in order to build a finger-locked relationship with the Lord. Furthermore, we should also open ourselves with humility in order to strengthen our relationship with Him.
At the end of the service, Pastor Toh invited the friends to accept Jesus as their personal saviour. 14 accepted Jesus Praise the Lord for His wonder!
After that, the congregation got on coaches and had our annual Friends Day main event the picnic! Brothers, sisters and friends went from the Hope Centre to Tai Lam Country Park. The weather was sunny with gentle breeze. Thank God for the wonderful weather for both gathering and pictures!
Many of us made food and drinks to share with one another. Moreover, brothers, sisters and friends from different sub-districts blessed other sub-districts with the food they made. Some sub-districts even designed special greeting dances and songs to strengthen the relationship between people of different sub-districts.
After that, the congregation split into groups to compete against each other in different cooperative games. Brothers, sisters and friends made use of the chance to know more about others. It was a wonderful experience.
Thank God for giving us this joyful Friends Day!
