Lunar New Year Sunday Service

Feb 11, 2024

Happy Lunar New Year ! May God’s prosperity and health overflow our brothers and sisters !

With the Fai Chun (Chinese Calligraphy celebrating LNY) decorating the entrance and brothers and sisters exchanging greetings and blessings, the church was filled with joy and laughter on the first day of the LNY !

“Conquering Life Adventure Together, Celebrating Life Victory with His Power” was the theme of church in 2024. Brother Chiho led the praise and worship team to sing several songs of blessing from God to all of us. After taking communion together in one spirit, sister Ceres testified that God blessed her family and job. She thanked God her son arranged time to meet grandmother weekly despite his busy work. She also thanked God that grandpa and grandma accepted Jesus Christ as their life saviour after she shared God’s gospel to them. She understood that when she gave the family and the job to God, she would receive the harvest in God’s time. She ended the testimony by sharing Psalm 23:6 “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

A special event was that all brothers and sisters in church wrote blessing words and then put them into red pockets to bless each other. Brothers and sisters in Chinese group wrote Thai blessing words to bless Thai group, and vice versa. We all enjoyed blessings each other in the LNY.

Pastor Arlene shared the preaching titled “Celebrate LNY: Becoming a New Creation” from 2 Corinthians 5:17. She reminded us that we are a new creature if we are in Christ. In the beginning of the LNY, we should not focus on the old things as old things have passed away. We should look for new things because our Abba Father always leads and blesses us. Besides, God renews our life above all that we ask or think, according to His power that is at work within us. She cheered us to receive and experience what Jesus Christ said, “It is finished,” together in 2024. And we proclaimed victory in all circumstances by walking with Jesus Christ ! The service ended in a festive and cheerful atmosphere.

After the service, brothers and sisters were invited to participate in Fai Chun writing at the entrance for spreading words of blessings and joy. Some of us joined the preparation and enjoyment of delicious pan-fried radish cakes as well as traditional LNY cakes at the Social Hub.

Thank God for all His blessings ! Happy Lunar New Year !
