Water Baptism II

August 10, 2008

Praise the Lord for the first water baptism we had after the church removal to Tsuen Wan. More than 100 brothers and sisters gathered in Tsuen Wan to take the coaches to Repulse Bay together. Thanks God that 17 brothers and sisters took the step of faith to dedicate their lives for Jesus Christ through water baptism. Among 17 new lives, 2 sisters just accepted Christ in the morning Sunday service. Hallelujah! According to the Bible, every Christian has to be baptized. Water baptism is a dedication to follow the Lord and to be His disciple. It also symbolizes our death, burial and resurrection in Christ.

The ceremony was chaired by Brother Jack and translated by Brother Jaytrajano. After giving thanks to the Lord, Brother Sing led the congregation to sing praise to our Lord. Following that Pastor Gavin asked our new lives two questions. First, whether they have repented of sin and accepted Jesus as their only Lord and savior. Second question was whether they have decided to follow Jesus for the rest of their lives by regular praying, bible-reading, commitment to the church and serving God with brothers and sister faithfully, no matter in good or hard time. After receiving the affirmative answers from the new lives, Pastor Gavin asked each of them to share what they wanted to give thank to God. Their thanksgiving sharing included the enjoyment of God’s love, joy and peace; wonderful fellowship with brothers and sisters, family relationship restoration, healing from God, blessings in life and family, and also being strengthened by God during hardship etc.

After the wonderful sharing, Pastor Gavin presented the certificates to the 17 new lives. Accompanied by their shepherds, they went into the water to be baptized by Pastor Gavin, Brother Michael and Brother Allen. Everyone stayed until the end of the ceremony before making their way home on this special occasion.

Praise God for the new creations. May the Lord continue to equip each of us and bring the revival to this land.
