Father’s Day

June 15, 2014

Praise the Lord the warmth of summer echoes our fathers’ warmth and strength.

After the praise and worship, brother Joe from SD 5 delivered his testimony. Though Joe was a shy person, he became more willing to share with others after accepting Christ. God has blessed him with his third child this year. He also shared on God’s protection on his trip to Thailand this year despite the chaos earlier.

All dads from the congregation, young and old, were invited to stage to receive honour and blessing from the church. Indeed all our dad looks different. However, our heavenly father is never changing.

The Sermon is on Romans 8:15, titled “The Name revealed by Jesus”.  “Father” as the Name of our Lord is only revealed in the New Testament by Jesus. As children of God, we have the right to call our Abba Father, who is there all the time.

The parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15 further illustrates the nature of our heavenly Father. Being rejected by his younger son, the father still longs for his son repentance. This father even restore his rebellious son authority and rights as his kin after the son’s long wandering.

Let us focus on the Lord’s Fatherly love and grow strong in His strength.
