Evangelism Workshop II – See, Plough & Invite
Jul 12 , 2026
Praise the Lord for His goodness ! More than 30 brothers and sisters stayed after the Sunday Service for the evangelism workshop. Brother Wai Hong led praise and worship, and sister Pik Sai introduced the afternoon. The congregation then watched sister Kwan’s testimony related to the theme.
During the video replay, sister Kwan’s testimony illustrated how God works through His people. In a Sunday Service, she noticed an Easter invitation and her friend’s 3 children came strongly to mind, as if God helped her see them with fresh compassion. She sent the invitation and her friend responded readily. Even without any follow-up because she was fully occupied until that Sunday, her friend surprisingly brought her whole family, including the 3 children and her husband, to attend. During the altar call, under the care of brothers and sisters, their hearts were gently prepared and all 5 accepted Christ.
Later, she sensed a prompting to invite her mother-in-law to the Mother’s Day Service, even though she seldom connected with her. She prayed for both parents-in-law and trusted that God could heal their hearts. They recognized their need for Jesus and received prayer for restoration. Again, with the support of brothers and sisters, they accepted Christ ! The experience reminded her that when God appoints His people and they respond, lasting fruit follows, echoing the heart of John 15:16.
Then, brothers and sisters divided into 7 groups to discuss:
- What motivated sister Kwan?
- How God worked through her obedience? And
- What encouragement each of us received?
Group members shared that an intimate relationship with God is the foundation of effective evangelism. This closeness to the Lord nurtures sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, helping them respond to His love and keep their focus on Jesus rather than their own abilities. It deepens reliance on God’s sovereignty, where trusting His timing removes the fear of rejection. It also strengthens authentic witness, as living out His love enables them reflect Christ through compassionate daily conduct. It further builds collective strength, reminding them that the prayer support of the care group members is essential and deeply valuable.
Pastor Gavin continued by outlining three Christ centered steps in evangelism, See, Plough and Invite. He explained that Jesus began by seeing people with compassion. In sister Kwan’s testimony, she observed the needs of the children and their family and responded accordingly. When believers view people as sheep without a shepherd, compassion is activated and action follows. He then described ploughing the heart. Beneath visible needs lie deeper pain, unbelief and distraction. Prayer functions as the Spirit’s plough, preparing the heart to receive the gospel and enabling understanding. Finally, he noted that invitation completes the movement of evangelism. In some situations, believers see and pray, yet the step of invitation remains unexpressed. Invitation often takes the form of a simple sentence offered at an appropriate moment. Pastor Gavin concluded with the Missing Link Equations:
- See + Plough – Invite = Inaction or missed harvest
- Plough + Invite – See = Cold duty
- See + Invite – Plough = Human burnout
- See + Plough + Invite = A heart fully engaged
And he encouraged everyone to trust the Spirit and keep sharing God’s love.
Praise the Lord for the fruitful afternoon ! Let’s continue to walk with Jesus, remain rooted in the church, and spread the Gospel to the people around us !
