Caring the Community, Sharing God’s Love #2

Praise the Lord for guiding us in our dedication to share care and love to our community ! A celebration party, armed at the elderly with birthdays falling between May to August, was gracefully organized at the Y Care Center of the Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association in Yau Yat Chuen. Around 9:30am, 10 brothers and sisters assembled to prepare every detail and pray for the success of this event.

At 10:00am, 18 elders joined the event. Brother Sam, sisters Pik Sai and Sammie started the celebration with a warm welcome and introduction. The names of the birthday elders were announced individually, and birthday cards with selected Bible verses were presented. A birthday song was sung together to convey blessings to the birthday elders. And then gift bags filled with essential daily care items to all participated elders. The room culminated in shared enjoyment of a cake, fostering a joyful atmosphere for all in attendance.

Then brother Daley guided the elders in gentle exercises using a video featuring a popular song from their generation. Inspired by the melodies and lyrics, the elders enthusiastically followed the routines, with the aim of enhancing their physical strength. Some of the elders joyfully sang along, further enriching the already cheerful ambiance.

Following this, sister Sammie led the elders in decorating small wooden frames with colorful modeling clay. With the aid of a video tutorial and a completed sample for reference, brothers and sisters collaborated with the elders in customizing their frames. The activity was greatly enjoyed, with such high engagement that some elders crafted remarkably creative and beautiful 3-dimensional designs !

After the activities, we connected individually with the elders, extending prayers and expressing both God’s love and our genuine care for their well-being. Some of them expressed their appreciation for our consistent care and love. The event ended around 11:20am.

Thank God for His leading ! It is a blessing that we can care for the elders and share God’s love through this event !
