Mother’s Day

May 9, 2010

Praise the Lord for the Mothers’ Day celebration! Many brothers and sisters came to church early with their mothers. A corner had been decorated for photo-taking, and an instant photo pasted on a nicely designed card was presented to them.

The Praise and Worship team led the congregation to praise and honour the Lord. The atmosphere was filled with love and joy.

Sister Ceres thanked God for her mum who had been loving and supporting her all the time. Ever since she became a mother, she learnt that it was not an easy task and, God’s unconditional love and teaching was important in bringing up her son. She received great blessings from the Lord and kept serving the Lord continuously as it renewed and re-strengthened her relationship with the Lord.

A video presentation was shown with photos of mum and children and some kids wished their mum “”Happy Mother’s Day””. The Chairman invited mothers to stand and the children from Sunday School presented them with sweet and lovely Carnations. Ps. Gavin prayed for all of them.

Ps. Arlene preached on Exodus 14:15-30. She entitled the message as Mother’s dream and roles. She used two kinds of fruits – banana and dragon fruit to trigger our thoughts, warning us to be careful in the heart desire and actual action in following Jesus.

Ps. Arlene brought up three points. One is that it is mother’s duty to obey God’s leading by faith. In order to do so, we have to completely take away the old self to humble and submit to God’s leading. Be alert so that we do not fall in the trap of B-U-S-Y (Being Under Satan’s Yolk).

Second is that mothers should know their responsibilities and act upon them. Mothers should submit and walk in God’s way that they can teach their children by life example. Lastly, it is God’s responsibility to protect His people, open the door and eliminate all enemies.
We just have to do our parts.

During the alter call, Ps. Arlene prayed for Sister Mary. She shared that Mary brought 15 souls to the Lord. She encouraged the congregation with Jeremiah 29:11-14. We should examine ourselves to see if we seek God genuinely that we would sow the seeds of God’s love. God will empower us if so.

Ps. Arlene prayed for mothers and shepherds to follow God’s words earnestly. There were about 8 people who accepted Christ. Thank God for the great service and it ended with a lunch fellowship in the individual groups.
