Water Baptism I

April 25, 2010

“It’s a happy day I thank you for the weather. It’s a happy day; I’m living for my God” Led by Sister Yu, about 140 brothers and sisters were praising the Lord in unity with joy at Repulse Bay.

It was indeed a special day for 39 brothers and sisters who took the step of faith to receive water baptism. Pastor Gavin shared with the congregation that all of us should rejoice on this day. It is a great encouragement to the church when we witness brothers and sisters following God’s command, following Jesus example to receive water baptism. God’s blessing will come upon us when we have an obedient heart.

Chairperson, Brother Jack invited those being baptized to come up and receive prayers and blessing from the congregation. Smiles and tears of joy could be seen on almost every one of them. Three questions were then asked to affirm their decision. 1) Have you received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? 2) Are you willing to commit your life to walk with Jesus Christ no matter what happen? 3) Are you willing to commit your life to this family and to extend the Kingdom of God? Praise the Lord that they responded firmly with faith that they were willing to die to their old self and dedicated their life to God.

While congregation were dancing and praising the Lord, Pastor Gavin and Brother Allen baptized brothers and sister. Familiar smiles, hugs and prayer welcomed them when they got on shore.

The sky brightens up more when the ceremony comes to an end, as if God is pleased and smiling at his children. Let’s continue to be the salt and light of the world for our Lord! Amen!
