Christmas Celebration 2021

Dec 19, 2021

Merry Christmas !

The theme of this year’s Christmas Celebration is “He is the Son of the Highest”. Before the service began, Pastor Gavin shared on Hebrews 1:3 that Jesus is great, divine and enthroned. Christmas is for us to realise the great and divine love of Christ. Then he prayed for the needs of brothers and sisters. After that, sister Rosa led us to dwell in a wonderful praise and worship filled with the love and peace from God.

After that, a video testimony was shown. Two couples – brother KT and sister Monica together with brother Johnny and sister Coco – shared about God’s goodness and mighty work in their lives. Johnny shared that there were always arguments with his wife at the beginning of their marriage. However, he thanked God for the teaching of his shepherd, reminding him that as a husband, he should pray for the family. Moreover, because of Covid-19, he couldn’t meet his clients often. He knew it was God’s will for him to rest and spend time with his wife and son. Coco said that when their son was three years old, he was diagnosed as having a serious disease. Coco was deeply distressed and she prayed for God’s healing upon him. And she got baptized when her son’s health was completely restored. Then KT talked about how he entrusted his company unto God. Because of the economic downturn, he had to cut down the staff size, so some staff were upset and even did something to hurt the company’s reputation. KT and Monica prayed together for new projects. Amazingly, a few days later, he got a call and received several new projects. When KT read the Scriptures about how a leper got healed by Jesus, he felt that God was speaking to him, telling him that God loves him and he believed that God is in control. Thank God for His mighty work in their lives.

Then we watched a video clip showing different CareGroups making some Christmas ornaments together before Christmas. After that, all of us went around to hang these handmade ornaments on the Christmas trees at church. What a joyful time to decorate our church together!

Then Pastor Gavin preached on Luke 1:32. The name of Jesus means “Jehovah Saves”; Jesus came to save mankind from sins. The birth of Jesus tells us that God is with us, He is great, His position is up in the highest place, He is above all things, and His personality is filled with love and grace. Jesus came to the world in the humblest way, telling us everyone could be saved, no matter what status we are of. Moreover, the glory of God brings forth real peace that can destroy the chaos in life. If we put our faith in God, we can live the “ZOE” (Greek) life, a new life in Jesus, not the “BIOS” (Greek) life, the physical life. We need God’s Word to build up our ZOE life, protecting us from negative thoughts and activating the Holy Spirit in us so that we can testify God’s goodness in our life.

Praise the Lord for His love and grace! Thank God for giving us this new life. Let us continue to spread the good news to the ends of the earth.
